At Snow Ghost Music, you can watch a video where Stephen Malkmus and Joanna Bolme discuss recording Real Emotional Trash.  Nothing too technical, but there’s some good recording footage.  Snow Ghost is where most of the tracking was done for this record.  Engineered by T.J. Doherty (Wilco, Sonic Youth, etc) and mixed by Nicolas Vernhes.  Here’s a text interview with Malkmus where he discusses the recording process.
